Archbishop Gomez

Archbishop Gomez, originally from Mexico, was ordained as a priest in the Opus Dei Prelature in 1978. Before becoming the Archbishop of Los Angeles in 2011, he served as the Archbishop of San Antonio from 2005 to 2010 and as Auxiliary Bishop of Denver from 2001 to 2005. Archbishop Gomez has contributed significantly to the Church, including serving as President of the USCCB for three years, Vice President of the conference, and as a papal appointee to the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. He encourages living a joyful and simple life following Jesus Christ, emphasizing service to God and neighbor in daily activities. He also played a key role in developing Avila’s High Calling Program, a formation initiative for men discerning the priesthood.
